The Long Shadow of Panjshir

Now on KINDLE, Paperback, Hardback and on Amazon audio.

Hi friends, supporters, old readers and new.

My fourth book is now available with the hardback and audio version. Hopefully, just in time for travelling over the summer holidays. The tale starts against the backdrop of the Soviet withdrawal from Afghanistan and finishes just after NATO and the US packed up and left, leaving our internal Afghan allies of the NRA (National Resistance Front of Afghanistan) in the lurch. It weaves spy craft, romance, and a military adventure with a murder mystery in London against the dark shadows of both the Kremlin and the Ukrainian invasion and Taliban rule. I have used an old Russian folk song that was popular during the time near the end of the soviet occupation as the soundtrack for the video attached. As in any war, and as we found in Afghan, it’s always young soldiers that pay the price for political ineptitude. The song was popular with the Russian 42nd Army during their withdrawal.

The book blurb is below.

It’s London 2022, a year after the fall of Kabul, and a serial killer is on the loose, just as a beautiful Russian spy, codenamed Babushka, arrives in town. The killer slaughters all the victims, who are human intelligence assets for the British security services, using a knife. Racing at breakneck speed, the story takes us to the Panjshir Valley in Afghanistan, where it uncovers a spider’s web of murder, treachery, and deceit directly connected to the heart of the Kremlin. The story unfolds as Collette Brown and Christian McCann from MI6 race to discover the truth that connects past betrayals during the Soviet occupation to the present insurgency against the Taliban. Where MI6 uncovers secrets about the Russian invasion of Ukraine that could save thousands of lives.
